First Offer for Batiste

There's a plethora of good cornerbacks in Louisiana's '12 class, one of which is Jordan Batiste (Lutcher HS). Good news arrived today for Batiste in the form of his first scholarship offer. Read further for details.

"I got my first offer from Memphis," said Lutcher cornerback Jordan Batiste. "It's a relief to get that first one. I called the Memphis coaches; they had all watched my highlight tape. They said all the coaches love me, and that they were offering me.

"They said I'm the number one cornerback on their board. I'm really surprised, because I hadn't heard much from them lately."

Which school might offer next?

"I don't even know," said Batiste. "But I"m hearing a lot from LSU, Texas A&M, Pittsburgh, and I've begun to hear from Auburn."

There's been talk that Batiste might be the only Louisiana corner who will garner an LSU offer.

"That would be cool," he said. "LSU says they're only going to offer four DBs. I know they offered (Dutchtown safety) Landon (Collins). If they offer me, I would really look into it.

"I'm in position to be a December grad, so I will be able to start college early."

Last weekend, Batiste attended Southern Miss' Junior Day and there's a possibility he'll go to a similar event at Memphis this weekend.
