"I originally signed with Troy out of high school, but I didn't have the ACT score to qualify. I went to high school at Liberty County in Bristol, Florida. It's a seven minute drive from Bristol to Tallahassee."
What type of freshman year did Evans have at Northwest Mississippi?
"I had 50 to 60 tackles with two interceptions and seven passes broken up," he said. "I'm more of a hitter than anything else. I can cover, but I do need to work on my man-to-man skills. Hitting is not a problem, though.
"Louisiana Tech is supposed to offer (teammates) Jay Jones, Donald Hawkins, and me this spring. I'm also hearing from Mississippi State. I can't really say what my favorites are right now. I'd like to play in the SEC or ACC, but I'm keeping my options open. I'll go with the best offer."
Last year, Northwest Mississippi began the year 9-0 and the outlook appears bright for 2011.
"We should go undefeated," said Evans. "Our defense is good and a lot of players come back on offense. Jay (Ole Miss offer) is a very talented player who works hard. He's a good guy. A lot of people underestimate him because of his size, but he's a big-play guy. He and Donald (Oklahoma State, Mississipi State offers) are good all-around players."
