Louis Holds Two Offers

The first two offers are in for Teurlings Catholic RB/LB Lamar Louis. Which schools are at the top of his list?

"I have offers from Texas A&M and Florida," said Teurlings Catholic RB/LB Lamar Louis. "Both of them came about a month ago. They called my coach and told him, and then I gave them a call.

"They both pretty much said the same thing. They asked about my grades and told me they wanted to see me play a few games this fall before I commit - but that the offers are on the table."

Which other schools are recruiting Louis? Who are the frontrunners?

"LSU has always been my favorite," he said. "I'm being recruited by Frank Wilson and Brick Haley. If I go to LSU, it will be on the defensive side of the ball, because they have a lot of running backs. They're recruiting me as a linebacker, and I'm going to play both running back and linebacker next year.

"Florida and Texas A&M, of course, are favorites. They are recruiting me the hardest. Alabama is sending a lot of mail. Northwestern wants me to come up there and visit. Also I'm hearing from Penn State, and I'm going to UL's Junior Day next weekend."

Louis had to sit out last year after transferring from Breaux Bridge to Teurlings Catholic. Was it difficult to watch from the sidelines while his team made a run to the Class 4A semifinals?

"Ah, man...it was hard," he said. "We just needed to win one more game to make it to the Dome, and I knew I could have helped my team. I had to just mentally train myself to work on getting bigger, faster, and stronger. All I could do was get better.

"I transferred to Teurlings because of the academic opportunities there. That's why my parents decided to make the move."

Expectations are sky-high at Teurlings for 2011 and rightly so -- due to the Rebels' backfield combination of Louis and underrated QB Dshaie Landor.

"Everybody at school is thinking Superdome this year, but we just have to take it one step at a time," said Louis.

A couple of weeks ago, Louis took home the Combine King Award at the Baton Rouge National Underclassmen Combine.

"My goal was just to improve my numbers from last year," explained Louis. "I ended up winning out, though, and that put me on the All-American Watch List. I'll be going to the Ultimate 100 and if I continue doing good, I could get to play in the bowl game.

"That's a goal of mine - to play in one of the high school bowl games."
