Louisiana LS will play for Kentucky

Brandon Taylor, the long snapper from Northshore High School in Slidell, turned down two scholarship offers to walk on at the University of Kentucky. Read further to get the details.

"I had offers from The Citadel and Northwestern State, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity to play at Kentucky," said Brandon Taylor. "Kentucky actually had a partial scholarship available for awhile, but they gave it to a running back.

"Coach (Greg) Nord, the special teams coach, told me that if I pay my way through spring 2012 and everything works out, then they'll have a scholarship for me."

Taylor is already relishing the thought of playing against friends at LSU this fall.

"I talked to Mickey Johnson about it," said Taylor. "It will be great to play in the top conference in the nation. In Week Five, Kentucky comes to Tiger Stadium and my best friend - Chris Faulk - plays for LSU. I also know Anthony Johnson.

"I have a great opportunity to compete for a starting job. Kentucky graduates a senior and I'll have to beat out another upcoming senior, but he hasn't snapped in games. Coach Nord says that I just need to do what for them - what they saw me do on film for (long snapping guru) Chris Rubio. If I do that, I could be snapping Week One versus Central Michigan."

Taylor cemented his decision after visiting Kentucky last weekend.
