Updated Story: Appleby Commits

Raheem Appleby became the second guard in as many days to commit to Louisiana Tech.

Appleby, who averaged 19.7 points per game for the Jacksonville Red Devils, scored 19 in the Arkansas 6A Championship Game to help his team win their second state title in three years.

Appleby confirmed that he committed to Louisiana Tech over Missouri State and UALR.

"I'm going to LA Tech," explained Appleby. "I like the coaching staff and the players. I think I fit in with Coach White's style of play, which is up tempo."

Appleby said one of his biggest strengths on the court is his shooting. He said he would describe himself pretty simply. "I'm a scorer," he said.

Appleby visited over the weekend along with Florida high school point guard Kenny Smith. Smith signed earlier this week. Mike Kyser, from Christian Life Academy in Houston signed earlier in the late period. Alex Carr, a three point specialist from Birmingham, signed back in the fall.
