Briscoe Holding Three

The spring evaluation period has been kind to Carencro defensive tackle Jacoby Briscoe. Read further to get the details.

"Texas Tech offered me today," said Jacoby Briscoe. "It's my first BCS offer, and they've moved to the top of my list.

"I didn't even know they were looking at me, because I never got anything in the mail from them. They were at practice today, and I knew they liked what they saw from me. After practice, my coach (Brent Indest) called me into his office and told me they had offered."

Last week, Briscoe grabbed a Memphis offer.

"Before the offer, I never knew Memphis was recruiting me either," said Briscoe. "Coach (Galen) Scott from Memphis came to our school and he told me they would most likely offer. Later that day, Coach Indest told me they decided to go ahead and offer."

Which other programs are showing interest?

"LSU, Pitt, Louisiana Tech, Nebraska, Tulane, and McNeese State," Briscoe said. "Coach (John) Chavis is recruiting me for LSU. He told me to keep ballin' and that I've been doing a good job. LSU wants me to come to their summer camp and earn an offer.

"I haven't had a chance to talk with the coaches from Louisiana Tech. I haven't build a relationship with them yet.

"UL was my first offer. Coach (Jay) Johnson recently told me they want me to talk with Coach (Mark) Hudspeth at the Cajuns' camp next month. I like the Cajuns, but they may be too close to home. I really do like them, though."

Carencro is expected to contend for the Class 5A state title this year, thanks to a strong senior nucleus consisting of Briscoe, Adam Clark, Jalen Nixon, Alex Johnson, and Jordan Walker.

"We're looking great in spring training," said Briscoe. "Were going to make a bigger run in the playoffs this year. Coach Indest has been really proud of our effort this spring."
