Hahnville DB has five offers

Hahnville defensive back Jerquinick Sandolph is one of the hottest names on the recruiting scene right now in Louisiana. Find out who all has offered and learn his top two.

"I'm being recruiting by some schools as a corner and others as a safety," said Jerquinick Sandolph, who has ideal size at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds (and 4.48 speed, to boot). "Memphis, ULL, Pittsburgh, Minnesota and Western Kentucky have all offered.

"My favorites are Pitt and Minnesota. Coach (Michael) Norvell from Pitt has been watching me since he was on the staff at Tulsa. He wanted to recruit me from the beginning, and they're building a good thing at Pitt.

"With Minnesota, I like their location. I want to go out of state for college. I'm not going to stay in Louisiana for college. At Minnesota, I think I could start as a freshman and I like their academics. If football doesn't work out for me (NFL), then I'll be set with an education from there.

"ULL is a good school, but they're in-state. I like Memphis because they signed my former teammate, Derek Howard. They're actually moving him from wide receiver to safety."

Sandolph says he can't pinpoint the number of tackles he collected last year, but he picked off three passes for Hahnville, which is a perennial Class 5A playoff program in Louisiana.

"I'm probably going to camp this summer at LSU, Alabama and Memphis," he said. "LSU and Alabama are both showing some interest."
