"(Northside) Coach Trev Faulk and I have been lifting together. We'll twist up the exercises; do three or four exercises in a superset.
"From there (after lifting), I do intense running. I've been running stadiums."
Porter recently spoke with Tech coach Pierre Ingram, who successfully recruited him for the Bulldogs.
"Coach Ingram and I mainly talked about my workouts," recalled Porter. "We did some catching up. He asked how I've been, and we talked about the guys up there in Ruston.
"The biggest thing is my conditioning and running. I'm already in good condition, and I know that I'll get in better condition during camp.
"I've been thinking about the work I'm going to do when I get to Tech. I know I'm getting in good shape, but it's a whole different ballgame on the college level."
Has Porter been in contact with any fellow signees or current Bulldogs?
"I haven't talked to the guys in my signing class as much lately," said Porter. "I haven't been on Facebook like I used to. I've gotten into this Twitter thing.
"I've kept in touch with (JUCO signee) Jon'al White. We exchange texts. That's my 'dog.' I've also heard from D.J. St. Julien and Taylor Burch. D.J. is from here in Lafayette.
"I want to holler at a couple of guys, such as Bryson Abraham. We could meet up somewhere and work out - put some work in.
"We could maybe take an early trip to Tech so we can get a better feel for each other."
Porter was a highly-decorated DT for Northside. Each of the past two years, he was named Class 4A First-Team All-State. In addition, Porter was the All-Acadiana Defensive MVP (in an area that included 5A state champ Acadiana and 5A semifinalist St. Thomas More).
