White Holds Offer From Bulldogs

A&M Consolidated RB Quinton White averaged 13.5 yards per carry in 2010 and he currently has a handful of scholarship offers, including one from Louisiana Tech (which was his first offer). Find out more about the prolific runner here...

"Louisiana Tech was first to offer me," said Quinton White, '12 RB from A&M Consolidated High School. "Coach (Mark) Tommerdahl is recruiting me for them. When he offered me, it was at a track meet. He said I'm the type of back he wants in their offense, and I could do big things there.

"It felt good to get that first offer. I didn't think it was going to happen this year."

Since then, all of the service academies - Army, Navy and Air Force - as well as UTSA have extended scholarship offers.

The interest from the service academies is certainly not surprising, considering that White averaged a staggering 13.5 yards per carry as a slotback last year in A&M Consolidated's double wing offense.

This upcoming season, however, the Tigers will have a completely new look on offense.

"Our head coach left for San Angelo, and we're going to the spread instead of the (double wing) option," explained White. "At first, it was hard (switching sets), but we got used to it.

"We'll go with one back at times and two at others."

White lists his favorites as Texas Tech, Tulsa, Purdue, Louisiana Tech and Montana State.

"I want to set an unofficial visit to Louisiana Tech, but I haven't done it yet," he said. "Montana State's coach loves me. He treats me like a son."

As a junior, White rushed for 1,201 yards and 15 TDs on a mere 89 carries. In his team's shootout (62-45) win over Harker Heights, White totaled 131 yards on 4 attempts (32.75 yards per carry) with 2 touchdowns.

He gained 195 yards on 6 rushes (32.5 ypc) with 3 TDs in a playoff win over McKinney Boyd.

White squats 510 pounds and bench presses 330 pounds.
