Clark Camps With Tech

O.P. Walker DE/OLB Lyn Clark is ready to make a name for himself after having to sit out last year following a transfer from Sarah T. Reed HS. Read further to learn more about Clark, who is the brother of current Michigan star Carvin Johnson (Archbishop Rummel).

"This is going to be my first year starting," said Lyn Clark. "We should be very talented and way better on defense than last year (despite losing five-star DT Anthony Johnson, who is now at LSU). "We'll have more speed. We'll be young and quick up front.

"I tackle well. I get to the football, and I have good speed for a defensive end. I believe I'm an explosive player who plays assignment football. I do whatever it takes to help my team."

Clark camped with Louisiana Tech last week in New Orleans.

"Their linebackers coach (Jeff Koonz) had great insight," said Clark. "After I had some trouble covering the running back on an angle route, he gave me good advice. They had great coaching at the camp."

When it came to discussing his teammates, Clark had great insight.

Dwayne Thomas: "He's like Deion Sanders. I'm under him (learning). He helps me. He balls out and shows up everyday. He showed up big in the (New Orleans Red Bull) 7-on-7 against Evangel. He's a big-time player."

Devin Powell: "He had a growth spurt last year (now 6-foot-5). Devin is a quiet leader, but he'll speak up if something goes wrong."

Marques Cheeks: "I love Cheeks. He's an awesome leader. He always cheers his heart out for the team. He can play offense or defense, and he's a high-character guy. It seems like I go against him on every play in practice. He really inspires me."

Raymond Jackson: "A very tall, quick lean receiver who gives 100%."

Anthony Scott: "A Maurice Jones-Drew type of running back who is around 5-foot-7 and 190 pounds. He'll do a good job stepping in for Robert Kelley (now at Tulane)."

Mizell Clark: "The former backup at Karr to Munchie Legaux (now at Cincinnati). He transferred to O.P. Walker, and he'll play slot, QB, safety, corner and punt returner. He runs a 4.4 to 4.5 and is a very quick guy. He's also outspoken and is vocal in the locker room."
