Darrington Hearing From Dawgs

Sherman Darrington (Blount HS, Eight Mile, AL) says Louisiana Tech extended a scholarship offer during the spring evaluation period...

"During the spring, Louisiana Tech came and watched my practice," said Sherman Darrington, the senior DB from Blount HS. "They had watched my film and liked the way I play. They said they wanted to offer.

"It was nice. That's my first offer and I was surprised. I like Louisiana Tech and plan on visiting in the future - possibly with my high school coach."

Last year, Darrington picked off two passes and registered 30 tackles for the Jaguars, who finished with a 4-7 mark. Blount reached the first-round of the 6A playoffs, where they dropped a respectable 40-24 decision to eventual state champ Daphne.

"I'm also going to play running back this year," said Darrington. "I'm excited about that. It will be fun to score a couple of touchdowns on offense."

Who else is Darrington hearing from, and what are his plans for making a decision on where to attend college?

"I'm taking the ACT Saturday* and when I get the results back, I think Western Kentucky and Florida International may offer," he explained. "I'm camping with Louisville and Auburn this summer.

I'm not in a hurry to commit anywhere. When I make a decision down the line, I'm looking for a good program that's a good fit for me."

The Jaguars boast a strong secondary, as Darrington is joined by three-star CB Kelton Brackett in the defensive backfield. Outside linebacker Larry Pettaway has an offer from Northern Illinois.

Blount is located in an unincorporated area known as "Eight Mile," a moniker that references the distance to Mobile (located eight miles southeast).
