Tech Offers Gladney

Haughton WR Damon Gladney had a phenomenal season in 2010, and his recruitment has skyrocketed throughout the spring evaluation and early summer period. On Sunday, Gladney camped with Louisiana Tech and shortly thereafter, he reeled in an offer from the Bulldogs - his ninth.

"Louisiana Tech offered me yesterday (Monday)," said Damon Gladney, the all-state wide receiver from Haughton High School. "They told me to call Coach (Tony) Franklin and Coach (Sonny) Dykes and when I did, they gave me the offer.

"The coaches said I fit their offense and I would have a chance to play early at Tech."

Gladney got a warm reaction from the Tech staff at the camp.

"The coaches already knew who I was and knew my name," he said. "I also camped at TCU last week and I was supposed to go to Mississippi State, but they rescheduled their camp.

"I'm planning to camp at Arkansas in late July. The camps are worth it, because you learn things you'll need for college and get better."

Who is at the top of Gladney's list?

"I like Arkanasas, TCU and SMU," he said. "I got a message from Coach (Jeff) Reinebold, who is recruiting me for SMU. He's in New Mexico right now and he wants me to come see the campus this summer. Dak (Prescott) also said SMU is a good offer.

"I'm thinking about committing somewhere by the end of the summer. Coach Dykes and my dad both asked if I was ready to commit yet. I want to see a few more things first."

Last year, Gladney and Prescott (now at Mississippi State) helped lead the Buccaneers to the 5A quarterfinals, where they lost a shootout with eventual state champ Franklinton.

As a junior, Gladney caught 70 passes for 1,211 yards and 15 TDs. In the Franklinton game, he torched the Demons for 177 yards on 10 receptions (with 4 TDs.)

He has offers from Tech, SMU, Tulane and several FCS schools.
