Howard: "I'm a lockdown corner"

Miles Howard is expected to start on both sides of the football this fall for the Bishop Montgomery Knights (Torrence, CA)...

"I play cornerback and wide receiver," said Miles Howard, the senior from Bishop Montgomery. "I'm a lockdown corner. I had two interceptions last season, both of which were pick sixes.

"I also had 40-plus tackles and eight or nine deflections. I'm 5-foot-11 and currently weigh between 165 and 170 pounds. I ran a 4.5 at a combine earlier this year."

What's happening with Howard's recruitment?

"Last week, I went to San Diego State's camp," he said. "They were impressed with my highlight tape. Monday, I camped at San Jose State, and I'm also thinking about visiting Northern Arizona and UCLA this summer.

"I like San Jose State and Fresno State. They're (Fresno State) high up there on my list. I also like Arizona State and SMU (which signed Bishop Montgomery DE Christian Holloway in February)."

Howard and Holloway locked horns with another SMU signee, four-star LB Davon Moreland, when the Knights faced Bishop Mora Salesian last fall. Moreland and his squad captured a 34-24 victory, but the outcome was later overturned due to forfeit.

Bishop Montgomery recorded a 9-2 mark in 2010.

"We were the number one seed in the playoffs, but we got upset in the first round," said Howard. "The other team (Templeton) was bigger and stronger than us. This year, we play the same schedule and we should blow everybody out."
