Michael Qualls Profile

Louisiana Select has had several star players come through over the years. Michael Qualls is the latest in a long line of Louisiana products to make a name for themselves on the AAU circuit.

Louisiana Select has had Danny Granger, Paul Millsap, and Greg Monroe go on to make it big in the NBA in recent years. Head Coach Mike Theus had no shortage of talent this year. His roster included Ricardo Gathers, a St. Johns commit, and Tulane commit Louis Dabney. Michael Qualls, from Huntigton High School in Shreveport, has several schools after him.

"He's probably had the best summer of any kid I've had in a long time," Theus said of Qualls. "He is being recruited by Louisiana Tech, Tulane, UTEP, Houston, Murray State and thats just the ones I know about."

Theus went on to describes Qualls as a player. "He's one of those players," Theus explained, "you put him on the floor and let him play. You don't define his role. His motor runs all the time. He can guard the perimeter and he can guard bigs. He's the most athletic kid I've ever had in twenty years. He can get to the basket with either hand."

Qualls participated in the Peach Jam back in July. Scout.com took note of Qualls and called him an "absolutely ridiculous athlete."

Qualls was in Ruston on Saturday to participate in an Elite Camp at Louisiana Tech. He was measured at 6'5" with a 7' wingspan.

"Tech is working on him very hard," added Theus. "Coach White is staying on top of this."

Theus went on to talk about what he has seen out of the new Louisiana Tech staff since Mike White was named head coach. "Honesty, up front, work ethic, respect," were some of the words Theus used to describe Coach White and the Bulldog staff.
