Tech Continues Home Streak

Trevor Gaskins knocked the ball loose as McNeese State tried to score at the buzzer Wednesday night, as Louisiana Tech held on to win 60-58.

Louisiana Tech (5-5) won fot the 21st straight time inside the TAC against non conference opponents when they held on to beat the Cowboys 60-58. The last home loss outside of the Western Athletic Confernce for the Bulldogs was on February 23rd, 2008 against Samford.

Tech has now won three straight against teams from Louisiana. The Bulldogs are now 15-6 against in-state teams over the last four seasons.

Cordarius Johnson led Louisiana Tech in scoring with 19, upping his season average to a team best 13.0 points per game. Kenyon McNeaill had 9 assists in the game and J.L. Lewis had 4 blocked shots.

Johnson had 6 rebounds to go with his 19 points. He had 23 points and 11 rebounds in a recent win over Northwestern State. Johnson is averagin 16.75 points per game over the last four contests.

Trevor Gaskins is second on the team with 11.8 points per game and toed for the lead in rebounds along wit Lewis at 5.4 per game. Kenneth Smith leads the team with 4.1 assists per game and Michale Kyser is tops on the team with 2.1 blocks per contest.

Freshman Raheem Appleby, after playing only a toal of 9 minutes all season, exploded onto the scene over the last four games. The Jacksonville, AR native lead the team with 19 points in a recent win over ULM and he followed that with 17, including the game winning three pointer, against Northwestern State. Appleby is avering 12.75 points and 30.25 minutes in the last four games.

Louisiana Tech Head Coach Mike White has his team back to .500 with two home games coming up. Arkansas-Little Rock (3-8) will be in Ruston on Saturday and Northeastern (3-4) will have a quick turnaround as the make their way down south after taking on Princeton on Sunday. The Huskies will take on Princeton at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon before they travel to Louisiana to play the Bulldogs on Tuesday night.
