Samford bullies Tech in OT
RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Bryan Friday had 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting as Samford beat Louisiana Tech 73-70 in overtime Saturday. Samford (13-14) led by as many as 10 points in the first half, and had a 28-23 edge at halftime. Tech (4-21) made the first of 10 ties, at 34-34 when Orren Tims hit a layup with 16:06 left. Samford made the final two baskets in regulation to tie the game 61-61. Samford had the first six points in overtime, Tech had the next seven and Samford outscored Tech 6-2 the rest of the way. Travis Peterson had 18 points for Samford, and Trey Montgomery 16. Tims, a freshman, led Tech with 19 points. Kyle Gibson added 15, Drew Washington 13 and James Loe 10.
