Quarterback News

Reid Herchenbach is still in contact with Louisiana Tech. The junior college quarterback talked to the coaches late last week and they want him to come on a visit.

Herchenbach is currently in classes at Merced, so he would not be able to join the Bulldogs until this summer. "I qualified out of high school, so I could have come in the spring. Instead, I enrolled in classes for this semester at Merced, so I can't drop the classes I am in," explained Herchenbach.

Taylor Bennett, a senior at Georgia Tech, announced he was leaving when this school year was over. Bennett started last season for the Yellow Jackets, and would be able to transfer and play immediately to any school that he wishes. Louisiana Tech has been in contact with Bennett and the two would seem to be a perfect fit since Tech did not sign a quarterback in the last two recruiting classes.

Bennett would not cause Herchenbach to hesitate, however. "That actually would not be bad," said Herchenbach, explaining that redshirting for a year would allow him to learn the offense and compete for the starting job the next two seasons.

Louisiana Tech will start spring football this week, with Steven Ensminger, Michael Mosley, and Ross Jenkins taking the snaps. Mosley and Jenkins have seen limited action at Louisiana Tech and Ensminger played a little for Auburn before transferring last fall.

Keep an eye on the quarterback situation; it seems to change every week. It does seem to be coming into focus a little better, and BleedTechBlue will follow any more developments.
