Oliver (15-13) improved to 3-0 on the year against UL-Monroe. She struck out six, walked zero and allowed only one runner to reach second base in the complete-game victory.
The Glendale, Arizona native allowed zero earned runs in 20.0 innings of work against the Warhawks this season.
With the victory, Tech (30-26) reached the 30-win plateau and clinched its first winning season since 1999. The Lady Techsters ended their regular season with the victory and prepare to head to the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Tournament next week in Honolulu. Tech jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning as the Lady Techsters jumped on UL-Monroe starter Heather Fritz.
Amberly Waits drove home Emma Barnes with a one-out single to give Tech a 1-0 lead. After Waits was caught stealing, Kylie Bassett tripled to right field and scored on an Oliver single to left field, making the score 2-0.
Tech added a run in the top of the second inning as Heather Doiron singled home Megan Granger, who reached on a fielding error by the Warhawks. The Lady Techsters had numerous opportunities to put the game away but left 12 runners stranded, including seven in scoring position. UL-Monroe also threw out four Tech runners on the base paths, keeping the game close.
However, Oliver was dominant. Molly McNeill's one out double to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning was the only time UL-Monroe put a runner in scoring position. McNeill would be stranded on second as Oliver retired the next two batters.
Barnes led Tech with three hits while Danielle Sheridan, Oliver and Doiron each registered two hits.
