Germad Reed Profile

Germad Reed is a 6'2" 245 lb. sack artist from Lufkin, TX.

Germad Reed plays for a very talented defense that is getting a lot of attention from college scouts. Reed is one of the reasons for Lufkin's success and he is hearing from plenty of schools. "Louisiana Tech, LSU, Tennessee, Illinois, Iowa State, and Nebraska are showing the most interest," said Reed. "Right now, Louisiana Tech is the only offer I know about, but my mom keeps up with all of it."

Reed admitted he had limited knowledge about Louisiana Tech. "I know a little about them, Darrius Terry signed with Tech," explained Reed. "I want to go on an unofficial visit this summer."

Lufkin's defense is made up of big names. Reed played on the defensive line along with fellow junior Jamarcus McFarland and senior Montavus Mott. The attention doesn't bother Reed. "I am not focused on the attention, I just do the best that I can do," said Reed.

Germad Reed is a balanced defensive end. "I can get you with speed or with power, but I like to use my speed," offered Reed. He said going up against senior offensive linemen Joshua Emshoff and Jacolby Ashworth in practice really helped him work on his game. "Sometimes they got me, sometimes I got them, but it helped me get better. It was a challenge."

Reed is excited about the talent coming back on defense for Lufkin. "We handle defense with the hat, let the offense do all the talking. Defense wins championships, offense sells tickets," said the junior.

Another member of Lufkin's defense is junior De'Marquez Freeman, who made All-District along with Reed and McFarland as juniors. "Freeman is a cover corner. He is real fast and will go after picks," Reed said about Freeman. "He might be as good or better than Darius Terry."

Look for Lufkin's defense to make a lot of noise in 2008. Germad Reed will be right in the middle of it all.
