Luquette Enjoying Busy Summer

Wes Luquette is a top baseball prospect in addition to being a sought after signal caller. The Isidore Newman quarterback juggles baseball games, football practice, and weights and still finds time to talk to college recruiters.

"I am playing on two baseball teams and I have games every other day," the 6'1" Luquette said. "I also have lifting every day and we have a passing league twice a week."

Luquette threw for 4,000 yards and over 50 touchdowns over his sophomore and junior seasons. He also sports a 55% completion percentage from his junior campaign.

Despite his busy schedule, Luquette still tries to keep up with recruiting. "I am going to a baseball tournament in Shreveport this weekend," mentioned Luquette. "ULM wants me to stop by on the way and they are going to give me an offer in person."

Louisiana Tech remains the only official offer for Luquette at this time. Both Tech and ULM keep in touch with the quarterback. "I talk to Coach Joseph and the coaches at Tech a lot, they are all real nice," he said. "South Alabama is calling and LSU wants me to go to their camp."

Because of his baseball and football obligations, Luquette hasn't made it to many college campuses this summer. "I want to make it by both Tech and ULM," Luquette explained. "I went to camp at Ole Miss and I might go to camp at UNC."

Luquette was told by the coaches at Ole Miss that he was just behind Clayton Moore on their board after camp. Two weeks later, they offered Moore, from Louisville, MS, and he committed.

Wes Luquette has not set up any official visits yet, but you can expect to see him on Tech's sidelines at some point this season. He says competition isn't a factor and he is just looking for the best opportunity. Stay tuned to as we keep track of Wes throughout the year.
