Cassetti Brown Pledges to Tech

Leesville (La.) defensive back Cassetti Brown didn't need much time to mull over an offer from Louisiana Tech before making his commitment.

Cassetti Brown, who received a verbal offer shortly after running a 4.37 40 at the Dooley-Dawg High School Football Camp, called Tech head football coach Derek Dooley today to make his pledge, becoming the fourth commitment in the Bulldogs' 2009 football class.

"I talked to (Dooley) a couple of days ago and again today," said Brown, a 6-foot, 180-pound safety who projects as a cornerback at Tech.

Brown initially held off on committing because he wanted to spend some time talking over the decision with his family. He didn't need much, though, as he's still awaiting his written offer in the mail – but the promise of a verbal pledge was too much to pass up on.

"That's where they want me to go," Brown said of his family.

Brown, a track star who was a first-year starter for the Wampus Cats last season, said opponents are going to be "really surprised" when they see how much he's improved during the offseason.

He's worked with Williams and new Leesville defensive coordinator Sedric Clemons to improve his technique, flexibility and top-end speed.

Brown is the third Leesville Wampus Cat to give his verbal, joining running back Michael Ford, an LSU commitment, and quarterback Travante Stallworth, who is headed to Auburn.
