Louisiana Athlete is Versatile

He can play quarterback, receiver, cornerback, and return punts. Just put him on the field and let him make plays.

Darius Carey made the move from receiver to quarterback last season for Helen Cox.

"I'll play quarterback again this year," he said. "College coaches are telling me that I should play receiver or cornerback in college."

Carey completed 73 of 119 passes for 1156 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior. He also carried the ball 80 times for 453 yards and four touchdowns. To top it all off, he returned four punts for touchdowns.

Because of his playmaking ability, Carey is getting interest from several teams. He has offers from Louisiana Tech and Tulane and he also likes Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and USM.

Carey attended camp at both Tulane and Alabama. He had planned on going to the USM camp but was unable to make it.

Louisiana Tech is keeping in contact with Darius. "Coach Joseph came by my school," explained Carey. "I have been getting letters from Louisiana Tech since then."

Helen Cox has a jamboree against John Ehret this year and opens up the regular season against St. Augustine.
