Checking in with Lyle Fitte

Port Sulphur did not have a lot of damage from Hurricane Gustav, but it did keep South Plaquemines High School off the football field.

"We missed one week of practice," said South Plaquemines running back Lyle Fitte. "We missed our first game and we just got started back on Monday."

Fitte said Port Sulphur only lost power as Gustav didn't hit with the force that was expected. South Plaquemines returns to action against Hammond.

"We play Hammond on Friday," added Fitte, "and I am confident we will get it done."

While Fitte still has just one offer, he believes more are on their way. "Tech is still my only offer, but I am getting a lot of interest from Kentucky and Michigan. I expect both of them to offer during the season," explained Fitte. "McNeese State said they will have an offer to me by next week."

The 5'8" Fitte said he is up to 198 pounds and has increased his bench press to 365 pounds. Fitte squats 550 pounds and power cleans 325. He ran a 4.41 in the 40-yard dash this summer at LSU's camp.
