Cedar Hill Duo Attract Tech Offers

Cedar Hill, Texas has big time prospects on both sides of the ball.

Cedar Hill offensive tackle Thomas Ashcraft is committed to Texas, and junior guard Adam Shead will be heavily recruited as well. The star of the team may be junior running back Ben Malena, and the Longhorns start a sophomore at quarterback, Driphus Jackson.

With all of the stars on offense for Cedar Hill, it may be easy to look past the defense. Coach Joey McGuire says his defense has talent too. "Tyler Washington and Darious Thomas have both been playing really well," explained McGuire. "They are two of our leaders."

Tyler Washington is a 6'0 220 pound athlete, who is a playmaker for the Longhorns. "Tyler plays rush end for us," said McGuire. "He is a really productive player for us, he has five sacks already. He will probably play linebacker in college.

Coach McGuire said Washington has offers from Louisiana Tech, UTEP, and SMU. SMU is recruiting him as an end, while most teams see Washington as a linebacker.

Louisiana Tech is the only team so far to offer Darious Thomas. According to Coach McGuire, he is getting interest from Baylor, Kansas, and Kansas State.

"Darious is 6'0" and 175 pounds, real long," mentioned McGuire. "He is the big corner that everyone is looking for these days."

Jameel Bagby is another Cedar Hill defensive back that is getting attention. Bagby has made a name for himself in the camp circuit and is on the verge of getting his first offer.

Cedar Hill is 2-1 on the season, with a big win over LaSalle Catholic from Cincinatti, Ohio. The only loss for Cedar Hill was last week against the number one team in the country, Euless Trinity. The Trojans face Arlington Martin this week, before a big district showdown with South Grand Prarie next week.
