Kendrick James Commits

Louisiana Tech Head Coach Derek Dooley received good news today.

Kendrick James, the #58 inside linebacker in the country, committed to Louisiana Tech today. The standout from OP Walker in New Orleans had offers from Mississippi State, Minnesota, North Carloina, and he had recently received an offer from Kansas State.

"I committed to Louisiana Tech today," announced James. "I've seen a couple of games this year. They are a good program and I have a good chance to come in and play. I also want to major in engineering and they have a good engineering school."

"I've been talking to Coach (Terry) Joseph and I really like what he has to say," added James. "I am planning on coming up on the 18th with my parents.

Louisiana Tech hosts Idaho on October 18th. Recruiting Coordinator Terry Joseph has done a great job recruiting the New Orleans area. Higgins defensive end Shakeil Lucas already committed to Tech and Joseph is also recruiting other players from both OP Walker and Higgins.

Torell Miller and Tyrone Duplessis, both from OP Walker, have offers from Louisiana Tech. OP Walker is 3-1 this season and Edna Karr is next on the schedule. Edna Karr also has a player with an offer from Tech, mammoth tackle Cornelius Lucas.

James said he definitely wants his teammates to join him in Ruston. "Oh yeah, I have to get them to go up there with me," he said with a laugh.

James is the fifth commitment for Tech's 2009 class.
