D.J. Wright Re-commits to Louisiana Tech

D.J. Wright has taken a long and winding road so far in his basketball journey. His road map has always included a stop in Ruston, Louisiana and that is still the case.

D.J. Wright played for Ro Russell's Grassroots Canada program. "A lot of schools are trying to get involved, but D.J. wants to go to Louisiana Tech," said Russell. "He wants to make a statement this year.

Wright committed to Louisiana Tech out of high school, but has since enrolled at Salt Lake Community College. "He started school out there at the end of August," explained Russell. "He likes it a lot."

Salt Lake Head Coach Norm Parrish likes what he has seen so far of Wright. "He plays hard," said Parrish. "He is hungry and very coachable."

SLCC started practice on October 1st. Parrish said Wright has been eager to get back on the basketball court. "D.J. is down to 220 pounds," added Parrish. "He has been hitting the weights hard. He looks good. He is very talented. He is the real deal."

Wright is the second player to commit to Louisiana Tech from Grassroots Canada this year. Kadeem Coleby, a 6'9" forward from Christian Life Academy in Houston, TX also committed to Head Coach Kerry Rupp.

Coleby will graduate in 2009 from Christian Life, while Wright will join Tech in 2010.
