Redding Leaning to Louisiana Tech

Louisiana Tech heads back to Florida to recruit another big time athlete.

After signing Brandon Gibson from the Tallahassee area last year, Louisiana Tech is after another player from the Sunshine State.

Darius Redding, from Godby High School in Tallahasee, was one of the top players in the area last year along with Gibson.

Godby Head Coach Andy Colville says you will have a hard time finding a better athlete. "Darius is as good an athlete as you will find," explained Colville. "He is one of the two or three best leapers in the state. He is a big time athlete."

Redding, who averaged over 18 points and 9 rebounds last season, was described by Colville as a slasher and a dunker. Redding is a high-major athlete and he is strong at 6'4" 205. Redding has drawn comparisons to Dwayne Mitchell, the former Louisiana-Lafayette star and to Jason Richardson of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Redding had early offers from Florida International and Southeastern Louisiana along with Louisiana Tech. Coach Colville says Redding has heard from Georgia and Virginia Tech, but admits they have backed off since Redding appears to favor Louisiana Tech.

Louisiana Tech has one commitment from the 2009 class, Kadeem Coleby from Christian Life Academy in Houston, TX. Redding plans to visit Louisiana Tech on October 18th when the Bulldog football team hosts Fresno State.
