Tech also received commitments recently from some of the top players on their board. Quarterback Doak Raulston, wide receiver Sharman Brown, and do-it-all athlete Lyle Fitte gave the Bulldog staff a big boost in recruiting. Tech's most recent commitment, Jaccari Jackson, gives them nine commitments so far.
Two fo the top uncommitted players from East Texas are Germad Reed and Daniel Prior. Both players are still open, but Tech is in the picture.
"Tech is in my final four," said Reed. "I don't have any favorites yet. I'm looking to make visits in December and January. I play basketball, so I have to schedule around that."
Reed says he hopes to visit all four of his favorites. "I want to visit Iowa St., Houston, UTEP, and Tech," added Reed. "I'll choose between those four."
Prior said recruiting has been a little slow. "Our season ended early," he said. "We didn't get to go to the playoffs. Hopefully, it (recruiting) will pick up here soon."
Several teams have offered Prior, but he doesn't have any official visits set up yet. Both Prior and Reed were in Ruston for Tech's win over Idaho.
With a win at home against Utah State, Louisiana Tech will be in position to guarentee a winning season at New Mexico State next week. With more wins will come bowl games and recruits will take notice.
Great things are happening at Louisiana Tech.
