Cedar Hill Wins 52-49 in 3OT

"We grew up a lot last night," said Cedar Hill Head Coach Joey McGuire.

Down 28-0 in the 3rd quarter, Cedar Hill stormed back to force overtime. It took three overtimes, but they eventually finished off Plano East 52-49. What a way to start the playoffs. "It was a long night," said Coach McGuire.

Two key players for Coach McGuire's defense are Darious Thomas and Tyler Washington. Louisiana Tech was the first school to offer Thomas, but he now has offers from Iowa, Kansas State, Wisconsin, and Houston to go along with the Tech offer. "Darious visited Iowa a couple of weeks ago," said Coach McGuire. "I just got off the phone with him. He just landed in Wisconsin for a visit this weekend."

With a crowded field looking to land Thomas, it looks like he is going to take his time making his decision. One school that might be in limbo is Kansas State, since they are going through a coaching change. "It's hard not knowing who the coach is going to be," added Coach McGuire."

Washington still holds offers from Tech, UTEP, and SMU. One advantage Tech has is assistant coach Stan Eggen. "Coach Eggen is a great recruiter because he works at it," said McGuire. "He does a good job. Tech has a good one in Coach Eggen."

With the playoffs under way, it is hard to tell when Thomas or Washington will be able to make visits. "We played on Thursday this week, so Darious was able to go up to Wisconson," explained Coach McGuire. "Next week, we play on Saturday. It's going to be tough for them to make any visits for a while."

Cedar Hill takes on the winner of tonights game between Southlake Carroll and Colleyville Heritage in the second round.
