Grandy Takes in Tech

Pine Bluff Dollarway standout is down to three schools.

Jesse Grandy, from pine Bluff Dollarway, and Fred Thomas, from Lutcher, were the two final official visitors for Louisiana Tech before signing day.

Both made an appearance at the basketball game on Saturday. They were hosted by Phillip Livas, Cruz Williams, and other current Bulldogs.

Grandy and Livas spent most of the game talking. Grandy possesses the same game changing speed that Livas has and the two would make a dynamite duo on the field. "I'm having a good time," said Grandy. "This whole recruiting thing is crazy."

Grandy is down to Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Louisiana Tech. He said he is ready for the whole process to be over. "I will make my decision on Wednesday," added Grandy, who seemed to enjoy hanging out with Livas and Williams. "I had a good visit to Ole Miss last week. I don't know yet."

Williams and Grandy played against each other in 2007. The two former Arkansas prep stars enjoyed talking about their game against each other. Apparently, Grandy picked off a pass intended for Williams and took it to the house.

Thomas had an even closer connection to someone at Tech. He played on the same Lutcher team as Relando Melancon. Melancon showed up shortly after the others and caught up with his former teammate. Thomas said he is not related to the former NFL player with the same name, but he does have return skills like the former Saint.

"I'm talking to Tech about playing corner," explained Thomas. "I'm here to check things out."

Thomas played for a Lutcher team that made it to the state semi-finals in 2007 before making it to the dome in 2008.

The student section was aware of their presence. Just before the start of the second half, they turned to Thomas and Grandy's direction and chanted "Come play football!"

Come back Wednesday for Grandy's decision and for complete coverage of signing day.
