Urell Johnson Profile

O.P. Walker had four players sign with Bowl Subdivision teams in 2009. The 2010 class looks to have a few prospects too.

Urell Johnson has an idea about what he is getting into. He had a front row seat while his teammates Kendrick James and Tyrone Duplessis went through the process. "They were liking it from the start," said Johnson. "I'm looking forward to it."

Johnson teamed with Torell Miller to form one of the best safety tandems in the state. Miller signed with Kansas State. The 6'0" Johnson returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown against Istrouma.

Johnson also competes in track. he is one of the premier long jump and triple jumpers in the state. He also competes in the 4x200 and 4x400 relays. Johnson has recorded several long jumps over 23 feet.

Louisiana Tech already has an offer in to Johnson and his teammate Charles Barkins. "I met Terry Joseph at school one day," added Johnson. "He was with Tyrone and Kendrick. They told me a lot of offers will come and it will be a hard decision."

After watching his teammates deal with the pressure, at least Johnson has an idea for what is in store. "No other schools have called as of yet," explained Johnson. "It was a nice offer."

O.P. Walker will be with a new coach in 2009. Skip laMothe resigned in order to focus on school administration. O.P. Walker lost in the second round to Salmen in 2008 and will look to go deeper in the playoffs.
