Barkins Holds Two

Charles Barkins anchors a huge line for O.P. Walker.

Recruiting is already starting to heat up for Charles Barkins, the 300 pound guard for O.P. Walker. "I'm hearing the most from Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Louisiana Tech, and Tennessee," he said. "I have offers from Louisiana Tech and Tennessee."

Luckily for Barkins and his teammates Urell Johnson and Tremond Jackson, they were able to watch 2009 recruits on their team go through the same process. Players like Kendrick James, Deron Wilson, Tyrone Duplessis, and Torell Miller all signed to play Division one football.

"They said to be calm when the coaches come around," explained Barkins. "They said you are going to go through adversity with everybody telling you were to go. The biggest thing I learned is how to be a leader. It's my decision that I'm going to make with my family.

O.P. Walker returns their entire offensive line. Barkins returns to lead the unit that averages 300 pounds from tackle to tackle. "I love run blocking," added Barkins, "because you're dominating."

Barkins and Co. dominated a lot of defenses in 2008. Tyrone Duplessis lead a big ground attack for O.P. Walker. Duplessis missed a little time in 2008, allowing other players to get experience for 2009. While Duplessis hits the ground running for Louisiana Tech, you can expect the running backs at O.P. Walker to do the same. A good bet for them is to run behind Charles Barkins.
