Elliot Porter Has Early Favorites

Archbishop Shaw is moving up to 5A this season, but their opponents will know who they are.

Elliot Porter has been to the dome in each of his three seasons playing football for Shaw. He has had a teammate sign to play Division One football in both 2008 and 2010, both at Louisiana Tech. Like Christian Lacey and Chad Boyd before him, Porter has his sights set on playing at the Division One level.

"I played with Christian for two years and Chad for three years," said Porter. "Christian, that's my mentor right there."

Porter played on the defensive line next to Lacey. "Christian is a pass rush specialist," explzined Porter. "He can get after the quarterback. I play defensive end in a 3 man front. I can play all across the defensive line as well as guard or tight end on offense."

At 6'3" 265, Porter is very fast and very versatile. College programs have noticed. "I'm getting a lot of letters," added Porter. "I'm getting the most interest from Alabama, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Ole Miss, and Miami."

With so much early interest, it is difficult to process all of the different schools. Porter said he does have early favorites. "Alabama, then LSU, then probably Ole Miss," mentioned Porter. "I am going to camp at Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, USM, and Mississippi State."

"Christian and Chad are trying to get me to go up there (to Tech)," said Porter. "Coach Joseph is getting me the information about camp up there."

"I'm still open right now," added Porter. "I just went to Alabama's Junior Day. It was a tour around campus, everything was real nice. I really like Coach Burns."

Porter said he is getting ready for his senior season. "We've been to the dome for three straight years," he said. "We are working hard so we can get back."

Elliot Porter said he has received his first offer from Florida International. "I got it just now," he said. Expect more to follow very soon.
