"That's how we do it," said Ancar. " We open with Belle Chase, John Ehret, Higgins, OP Walker, and Helen Cox." All five schools are in 4A or 5A. South Plaquemines wins more of these games than they lose. Last year they beat Hahnville, then lost to Helen Cox by two points. They also beat 3A Northwest. The year before, they lost to Belle Chase and Helen Cox by 6 each, but they beat Northwest and Hammond.
Ancar says the tough schedule helps during the playoffs. "We're gonna get that three-peat," Ancar said confidently. "I'm spending the offseason doing footwork drills, pulling the sled, and hitting the weights."
The linebacker said he loves to play defense. "I play outside linebacker and Beau (Fitte) plays the other side. I love hitting the running back. I love picking the ball off, but if you have the ball then I'm gonna hit you. That's my job."
Ancar said he had 80 tackles, 20 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 5 recovered fumbles, 2 interceptions, and one touchdown. He said he is hearing the most from UConn, LSU, Ole Miss, and Louisiana Tech.
"Tech is on top," Ancar added. "They are the only ones to offer and they seem the most interested."
Lyle Fitte signed with Tech from South Plaquemines in 2009. "He said there will be a lot of schools calling and saying the want you," explained Ancar. "You just have to pick out the one that fits you the best."
