Elliot Porter Post LA Tech Junior Day Update

After visiting LA Tech for their Junior Day, Elliot Porter had some very positive things to say about his experience. Find out what he said.

Elliot Porter is a big and strong DT (6-4/275) from Shaw High School in New Orleans. During the New Orleans Scout.com combine, he did not turn many heads with his 40 time of 5.42, but during the OL vs. DL drills he impressed on lookers and his opponents with his nimble footwork. Also, he reports a bench press of 375lbs and a squat of 480lbs.

Porter is currently holding offers from Tulsa, Florida International, and Louisiana Tech. For his Junior Day visits, Porter went to Alabama, LSU, and Louisiana Tech. He wants to make his decision before his senior season starts, but is willing to wait until during the season, but wants to get it over with. Another visit he has planned is FIU in June.

When asked more specifically about his visit to LA Tech he responded promptly with, "I like Louisiana Tech, I like it a lot." He rated his experience at Louisiana Tech a 9 out of 10. "I expected good, but not that good," Porter said. His favorite part of the visit came when Coach Dooley brought him and his parents into his office and told him how much he wants Elliot to play for him at Louisiana Tech.

Porter also said, "I don't care as much about the big school(s), (it's) more about playing early, and an education." That being said he knows he has a great opportunity to play his freshman season if he chooses Louisiana Tech, with the departure of Bulldog DT D'Anthony Smith.

Another school Porter spoke about was Tennessee, Coach Ed Orgeron has told him he could play early at Tennessee as well, but Tennessee has not offered yet. While talking with him, it is obvious that Tennessee is one of his favorites along with Louisiana Tech.
