Nikita Johnson named to Top 100

May 7, 2009 RUSTON—Louisiana Tech men's basketball associate head coach Nikita Johnson has been named to the top 100 assistant men's basketball coaches in the county by Basketball Times.

In the April issue, the national publication tabbed Johnson No. 97 as rated by "Hoop Scoop" recruiting service.

"It's an honor and very humbling to be considered one of the top assistants," Johnson said. "This is something that is based on my entire coaching career, as I have worked with some great coaches and staffs."

Johnson is one of only two assistants from the WAC to be named to the list. The other is Chris Pompay of New Mexico State.

"This is also a reflection of the tremendous staff we have at LA Tech," Johnson added. "From (head coach Kerry) Rupp down to our graduate assistants, these guys work extremely hard and it is instilled in them to be successful. Trust me, I do my part, but they make my job so much easier."
