Creer Talks About His Decision

Lennon Creer had several suitors after he announced that he was leaving Knoxville. What factored into his decision?

One of the first questions to ask when discussing Lennon Creer and Ahmad Paige leaving Tennessee is: "Are they a package deal?"

"Ahmad and I roomed together," explained Creer. "but I didn't make my decison because of him. I actually made up my mind (to attend Louisiana Tech) before he did. I wanted to be close to home so my family could see me play."

So is Creer in Ruston? "Not yet," he added. "I'm on my way now."

Creer said several factors were in Louisiana Tech's favor. "Coach Dooley has the team going in the right direction," said the Tatum, TX native. "He has made a lot of improvements and the future is bright. It's something I want to be a part of."

Lennon Creer rushed for 2835 yards and 36 touchdowns his senior year at Tatum. While those stats are more than most back's career numbers, Creer amazingly had over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his last two high school seasons.

The 6'1" 210 pound running back had 392 yards and 4 touchdowns last year for the Vols. Of three backs with at least 70 carries, Creer easily had the most yards per carry with 5.3. Rated as the #10 running back in the country in 2007, Creer is the early favorite to replace senior Daniel Porter as the primary back for Louisiana Tech in 2010.
