A good sign of a good coaching staff is when they can identify talent. Louisiana Tech picked up five commitments in the last week and most of them made a name for themselves at camp.
Michael Schrang camped at Arkansas, Colorado St., UTEP, Kansas, Kansas St., and USM among others before camping in Ruston.
Schrang made an impression on the Tech staff with his work ethic at camp. The 6'2" safety chose Tech over heavy interest from UTEP, Colorado St., and Arkansas. "I didn't want to wait too long and miss out on an offer from a good school," said Schrang. "Coach Dooley called last week and said they would really love to have me. I decided to call Coach Scelfo on Wednesday and I committed."
The 195 pound athlete from Kingwood, TX said he is going to try and make it to as many Tech games as he can this year. He said Kingwood is about 4.5 hours from Ruston.
Carter Street said he lives about the same distance away. The Pilot Point star said he is not far from Denton, TX. "Just get on 20 and go all the way," Street said about getting to Ruston. "I liked it over there. The coaches are real nice and I really just like everything about it."
Being from the Denton area, Street had heard from UNT. "I went to their senior day, but that's about it," he explained. "I also heard from Georgia Tech, Purdue, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Arizona."
Street said he thinks he will fit in well at Tech. "Coach Spangler runs basically the same technique up front that we do," he mentioned. The 6'4" 247 Defensive End will add some size to Tech's defense.
Louisiana Tech invited Street over last weekend. "Dillon Day, Gavin Stansbury, Chacandrick West, and LaCraig Brown were all there," said Street. "LaCraig's mom and my mom got to talk alot. His mom likes Tech alot too."
Like Schrang, Street plans to be back in Ruston soon. "I'm hoping to come to the Nicholls State game and maye the Hawaii game," added Street.
Louisiana Tech added two very good athletes this week. Schrang and Street have nice size and will bring a lot to the Louisiana Tech defense.
