Nolen Smith Update

After catching over 100 passes last season, Nolen Smith is off to a strong start to his senior season.

A self described possession receiver, Nolen Smith is quick to point out that doesn't mean he is slow. "I haven't got caught from behind yet," he announced.

Smith was at the Mississippi State game against Jackson State this weekend. "It was good," said Smith. "They said they like me and they should be getting back to me about an offer soon."

Smith had an offer from Vanderbilt, but they pulled it when they filled their spots for wide receivers. If something happened with one of the commitments, Smith is next in line for one of those spots.

Along with Mississippi State, Smith said he is hearing the most from Auburn and Alabama. He currently has offers from Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Troy, UAB, and Jacksonville State. Of the schools that have offered, MTSU is keeping in contact the most.

Out of Oneonta, Alabama, Smith has helped lead Oneonta High School to a 2-0 start. "We won our first game, but we started slow, Smith explained. "We didn't get to play a jamboree so that was our first live action. We had a bigger win in our second game."

Smith has 15 catches so far this season. We will keep up with Nolen as the season progresses.
