Louisiana Tech could use a little speed on the outside against the likes of Onterio McCalebb of Auburn. Jacolby Hardnett plays linebacker right next door to Auburn at Opelika High School. Hardnett, who could play safety or outside linebacker in college, could be the type of player Tech needs in the defensive back seven.

Hardnett has ten tackles, six for loss, and one sack on the season. Opelika's defense has helped the team to a 2-0 start. They won their first game 28-0 and gave up only 55 yards. In game two, they won 49-6. The defense did not allow a single point in either game. The six points given up in the second game were on a kick return.

Auburn is the favorite for Hardnett, being his hometown team. He has one offer right now, from Louisiana Tech. "They started out pretty good," said Hardnett. "I thought they had a chance to win after the first half."

"I mainly was there looking at Auburn's campus," said Harndett, who was on an unofficial visit. "They keep inviting me to games."

Hardnett said he feels like Nebraska, UAB, and Kentucky are close to offering. He said he is also starting to get interest from N.C. State and Northwestern.
