Washington Turns on the Jets

Booker T. Washington got off to a quick start thanks to speedster Cassius Washington.

Cassius Washington did a little of everything in a 26-0 season opening win over Fair Park. Washington returned the opening kick 93 yards for a touchdown. Later in the game, he returned a punt 38 yards for a touchdown. The senior finished the night with 7 receptions for 99 yards and even threw in two tackles.

The Lions are 1-1 on the season and heading into a key matchup with Airline. "This is going to be a big game for us," said Washington. "We need to rebound and beat a good 2-0 team. They have a good team. They have a lot of seniors and a really good quarterback."

Coming off of a loss to Southwood, Washington had 6 carries for 56 yards, 3 catches for 22 yards, and 7 tackles. "The loss last week hurt," he added. "We need to rebound."

Cassius said he is still talking to Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State. "I talked to Coach Eggen yesterday," mentioned Washington. "I'm trying to make it over for the Nicholls State game."

Washington also has plans to attend the LSU-Mississippi State game in Starkville.
