Springhill struggled last year with less than 20 players on their team. The Lumberjacks have around 40 players this year and th
ey are better able to matchup with their opponents.
Charcandrick West leads the offensive attack for the Lumberjacks. Springhill Head Coach Joey Pesses said West played well. "He did a good job," said Coach Pesses. "We had to play him down and up, but he's a little better up. He's a good leader. You never see him get down. His personality wil take him a long way in life."
Minden is led by senior athlete Tony Casey. The 5'11" speedster lines up mostly at quarterback and runs the ball behind a very good offensive line. With ten guys blocking, Casey is able to pile up the yards.
Springhill was able to hang with Homer for most of the game. The Lumberjacks took a 28-27 lead in the fourth quarter. Homer was too strong in the end and scored twice late to win 41-28. Casey ran for over 240 yards and is now over 1600 yards on the season.
Charcandrick West led Springhill with 107 yards and two touchdowns. He had a 20+ yard touchdown in the first half and a 60+ yard touchdown run from the fullback position in the second half.
West was in Ruston the next day for Louisiana Tech's 45-7 win over New Mexico State.
