Fitte Makes All-State

Beau Fitte was one of four South Plaquemines defenders named to the Louisiana Class 1A All-State first team.

Seth Ancar won Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second straight year. Ancar had 75 tackles including 15 tackles for loss for the season.

Defensive linemen Beau Fitte had 69 tackles and 12 sacks on the year. Fitte, who projects as an outside linebacker in college, said he is hearing from Louisiana Tech, LSU, and Tennessee.

Fellow lineman Felix Barthelemy (19 sacks)and defensive back Wendell Turner (7 interceptions) also made first team All-State.

The Hurricanes lost to Haynesville 19-12 in the dome, causing their repeat bid to fall just short.

"The season is over," said Fitte. "I'm just trying to heal up." The Hurricanes had another whirlwind season with games against larger schools and another run through the 1A playoffs.

Fitte posted a 4.64 laser time at the combine last spring. He now turns his attention to track and will probably turn in an even fast time this year.

We will continue to update Beau Fitte as he transistions into his senior season.
