Tech ‘s DT Search Reaches Florida

Louisiana Tech is searching all over the South for a few good defensive tackles.

Sean Watson, a 6'3" 283 pound tackle from Rutherford High School in Panama City, Florida has a new team in his list of favorites.

"Coach Brumbaugh first called me a month ago," said Watson. "He came by the school about a week ago. He picked up some film. They want to offer me and my cousin."

Darrell Smith, a safety from Port St. Joe, is currently committed to Arkansas. "We're both from Port St. Joe," explained Watson. "I live in Panama City now. If Louisiana Tech offers both of us, we might end up over there."

Watson described his interest in Tech. "I grew up loving Florida State," he said, "but they want me to play offense. I feel like I fit in well at South Florida and East Carolina. I really like the coach at Tech. He says I can play right away. He talks to me like I am already one of his players."

FIU, FAU, USM, ECU, USF, Iowa State, Mississippi State, and Louisiana Tech are all showing interest in Watson. He has visits set up with FIU on January 8th and FAU on January 15th. "I will probably visit Jacksonville State and I'm looking at visiting Louisiana Tech on January 22nd," added Watson.

While Watson and Smith don't currently play together, they did play against each other. Rutherford came out on top, but Watson said that both he and Smith had good games. The cousins might just end up on the same side of the field at the next level.

We will catch up with Watson when he is set to visit Louisiana Tech.
