"I committed today," said Hayes. "Coach Eggen has been recruiting me since the spring. Missouri was on me for a while, but they filled their board up around Christmas break."

More recently, Hayes said he was hearing from UTEP. He also said Kansas was trying to get him to grayshirt. Texas tech has also shown recent interest.

"Coach Eggen stayed with me," added Hayes. "It felt like the right place for me. Coach Dykes came by my school this week. He's a pretty cool guy. I would love to play for him."

Hayes is a track star for Lancater High School. "I finished second at State in the 110 Hurdles." This summer, Hayes was invited to compete in Italy.

"It was a good experience," explained Hayes. "Just to see the international competition. The food was great too. A lot of pasta and lean meat. Just good, healthy food."

Hayes will visit Louisiana Tech this weekend.
