Tech Beats Spartans to Improve to 19-4

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will be looking for a little payback for the second straight contest as they attempt to capture their 20th win on Monday.

Louisiana Tech improved to 19-4 overall and 7-2 in the WAC as the Bulldogs beat the San Jose State Spartans 71-64.

Head Coach Kerry Rupp's team jumped out to a 15-0 lead and led throughout as Tech avenged a 87-76 loss at San Jose on January 21st.

Adrian Oliver led San Jose with 22 points. the sophomore transfer from the University of Washington scored 39 in the win last month.

This time around, it was Tech that got off to a hot start. San Jose State is 5-0 at home in WAC contests, but fell to 0-3 on the road.

New Mexico State hosts San Jose on Saturday before Louisiana Tech heads to Las Cruces on Monday night. The Bulldogs will try to build a lead in the WAC race as the season heads down the stretch. Utah State heads to Nevada on Saturday in another game important to the battle for first place.

With a win at New Mexico State, Louisiana Tech will have already beaten every team in the Western Athletic Conference this season.

Once again, Louisiana Tech was lead by Kyle Gibson and Magnum Rolle against the Spartans. Gibson had 21 points and Rolle added 18 in the win. Against the Aggies, Tech must find a way to contain center Hamidu Rahman. The Aggie big man had 22 points and 12 rebounds while finishing 10 of 15 from the floor in New Mexico State's 91-77 win in Ruston last week.
