Tyler Porter Likes LA Tech

Tyler Porter has been to Junior Day at Louisiana Tech and to Tech's camp in Baton Rouge back in June. Check inside to see what visits Porter has lined up and what he has to say about Louisiana Tech.

"I get letters from Tech a lot," said Tyler Porter, a big time defensive tackle prospect from Northside High School in Lafayette. "I keep a close relationship with Coach Eggen. I call him at least once or twice a week. I really enjoy working with him. He is exactly like my D-Line coach in high school, very high energy. He really likes to get in there and demonstrate."

Porter plans to be back in Ruston on July 24th. Besides Louisiana Tech, the 6'0" tackle has a few other visits to make. "I plan to visit Southern this weekend and I also want to visit Arkansas," he said. "I like the staff at McNeese and I have friends there. I plan to visit there with several of my teammates."

There are a few things that Porter talked about in his search for a college. "I want to be around positive people," he explained. "I want positive influences around me. I don't want to play with teammates that are just there going through the motions. I'm also looking to play early. I want to play for a defensive line coach with a proven track record. Coach Eggen definitely has that."

Northside opens with Acadiana this season. "It's always a close game," added Porter. "Last year we were up 28-14, but they came back on us." With Tyler Porter up front, don't expect too many teams to come back against Northside in 2010.
