Cain has big weekend

On National Signing Day, Louisiana Tech hopes to land multiple players from defending 5A state champion West Monroe, including RB/WR Tyler Cain. How did Cain fare in his team's game against Leesville last Friday? Did he attend the Louisiana Tech/Grambling game? Read further to get the answers.

"It was a great game against Leesville Friday night," said West Monroe standout Tyler Cain. "They had us down, 21-7, at one point, but we came back and won, 68-28. I had 140 yards rushing and four touchdowns on eight carries (20 yards per carry).

"Leesville was much better than we expected, and Levander Liggins (WR/RB) is a really good player. They performed and got past our defense early, but we adjusted our game plan and were able to stop them."

How was Cain able to gain such huge chunks of yardage?

"We were in the I-formation all night, although I moved from tailback to slot receiver here-and-there," he said, "and the offensive line really stepped up. They made things easy for me."

Cain and the Rebels clash with defending 4A state champion Neville on statewide TV this week. Was Cain surprised by Neville's loss to Ouachita in Week One?

"It wasn't a shocker for me that Ouachita won," he replied. "They're really good. We can't wait for the Neville game this week. We just gotta be ready."

Did Cain attend the Louisiana Tech/Grambling game?

"I'm on my way to the game right now," said Cain on Saturday afternoon. "I'm meeting (teammate) Michael Hunter there. Everybody in Monroe is coming to the game tonight. I think (teammate) Chuck Hunter is going too.

"Chuck had a good game against Leesville. He had a lot of tackles and three sacks. Michael had nine tackles and a fumble recovery."
