Allen Talks Cajuns

New Iberia Senior High WR La Marcus Allen is off to a good start to the season in the Yellow Jackets offense. The "6-1", 185-pound senior is set to visit UL this weekend for the Ragin'Cajuns first home game of the season. Is Allen close to making a decision?

With a big game on tap Thursday night against former district rival Acadiana High, La Marcus Allen and his teammates are focusing on the Rams vaunted Veer Option offense. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 28-0 win over another former district rival Lafayette High in which Allen finished with 3 receptions, for 73 yards and a touchdown. La Marcus spoke about the Lafayette High game and what the Yellow Jackets need to do to improve their performance.

"We beat Lafayette High last week, but we weren't satisfied with the way we played," Allen stated. "We talked about playing consistent football for two half's, and not just for one half of the game. If we can put together a complete game and execute on both sides of the ball, we are going to be very good."

La Marcus Allen is holding an offer from Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns and will join a number of athletes coming in this weekend's game against Nichol's State.

"I'm going in to UL this weekend with my dad to watch the Cajun's," said La Marcus. "They wanted me to come in and we talked about it and decided to come in for the game. I think it might be ready to go ahead and commit this weekend; I'm going to talk to some of the other athletes coming in, the coached and my dad about Saturday. We will see what happens this weekend."

La Marcus has seen interest in him from other programs increase since the season began. Where does he stand with those schools as he approaches the UL game this weekend?

"Some other schools have shown interest in me since the season started," Allen stated. "But I haven't picked up any offers from those programs at this point, so I don't know how serious their interest is at this point. I have a written offer I received from UL since the beginning of August and I have to give them strong consideration because they have been talking to me all along."

La Marcus Allen scored a 17 on his first ACT test and is going to retake the test in either October or November.
