Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Football commitment Charleston High (MS) MLB Allen Spurlock was recently named 2014 3A Region 2 Defensive MVP. The senior defender currently has 42 tackles (36 solo), 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery on the season, not counting tonight's playoff game against Kemper County. Spurlock also plays RB/FB for the Tigers as well, committed to the Ragin' Cajuns Football program in late July this past summer. Allen spoke to the Cajun Redzone about being named district defensive mvp and the Tigers season playoff run.

"Coach told me I was named 3A Region 2 Defensive MVP," Allen stated. "It's a honor to be recognized for your play on the football field, but its also about playing with a good group of players on my team. I really focused on having a good senior season and trying to help my team win a state championship this year. We have a semi-final game Friday night after we beat Louisville last weekend.

Charleston High defeated state power Louisville High School 35-13 last weekend and face 11-3 Kemper County Friday night in a 3A semi-final game. Spurlock talked about tonight's matchup against Kemper County.

"Kemper High is a good team," Spurlock stated. "We match up well against them, they love to run the football and that is the type of game I like to play. I would much rather play down hill against a team running the football at me and allow me to play physical football. If we take care of business against Kemper, we will have a chance to meet our goal of winning a state championship next week."

Allen Spurlock has been busy focusing on his senior year, he hasn't been able to attend any of the Cajuns home game this season. But the talented senior speaks to the UL football staff every week.

"I wanted to get up there for some games, but I didn't have a ride," Allen said. "I talk to Coach Stringer and Coach Hudspeth a lot, and they encourage me to play hard. They think I can come in and contribute as a freshman. If they play in the New Orleans Bowl, we are going to try and attend the game.

Allen Spurlock reported that he maintains a 3.0 GPA, but still has some work to do on the ACT scoring a 16 on his last test.
